Captain Phil Harris from Deadliest Catch is dead?

That's the story folks - Captain Phil Harris from Deadliest Catch has died!

Phil Harris was recovering from a recent stroke that occurred while unloading crab after yet another fishing trip aboard the Cornelia Marie. Captain Phil died in a hospital in Alaska late Tuesday night.

For those that followed the show, "Deadliest Catch" on Discovery, Captain Phil Harris was the skipper of the Cornelia Marie, a crab boat that made it's money and fame fishing for crab in Alaska's Baring Sea.

Captain Phil was a tough and aggressive captain willing to take risks to capture the prize, but not willing to risk his son's Josh and Jake who also worked along side him on the decks of the Cornelia Marie.

He was what many of us were happy to see once again open TV - a man not willing to take shit and more than willing to give it - tough as nails and never willing to back down.

The channel that featured the reality show "Deadliest Catch" posted the following statement about Captain Phil Harris, saying he "was more than someone on our television screen. Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart. … We send our thoughts and prayers to Phil's sons Josh and Jake and the Cornelia Marie crew."
