Call of Duty: World at War - Beta Release Date!

Call of Duty: World at War multi player beta's will be released in October! They will be available for the Xbox 360 and separately for download on Windows PC. That's right folks - they didn’t forget us PC Gamers on the Beta! The Beta's will be available to those who pre-buy the game. The current rumor is that pre-buy's will also get a code for instant weapon's perk update once they receive the full game.

These betas will serve as an early chance for players to practice the tactics needed for survival in the intense chaos of Call of Duty: World at War’s Pacific and European theaters. No that isn’t wrong - BOTH THEATERS!

Players will experience the game’s new squad system, as well as fan favorite perks and kill streaks. One more time folks - Squad Based Play! New PC time for me. I hear a credit card yelling for me to use it for the first time! I’m going to be shopping for a new system so I can play COD World at War!

Activision is already scrambling to patch glitches that were detected in the first round of closed Beta testing. The famed "Print Screen" lag glitch from COD 4 hung around again and I would almost guess it almost made it to this next round of Beta. That's the one that made it appear as though a player had "lagged out" however on the "Lagged" players screen everything appears normal and they can function and move with no ill effects. Rumor is that a few other "Glitches" from the COD 4 have made it along with out notice from Treyarch or Activision so far.

The new version is of course based on the Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare engine. There are new tactics and new experiences of the climate battles that gripped a generation. As U.S Marines and Russian soldiers you will have new features like cooperative game play which offers a cinematically intense experience. They will also be bringing back some weapons from the original Call of Duty and The follow up Expansion United Offensive like the flamethrower.

The full on battle will commence on November 11, 2008 when Call of Duty: World at War is released to retailers nationwide! The Allied War Machine’s public World at War server should be up and running on that same day! Until the release of World at War you can still play on the Allied War Machine's free public COD 2 and COD: UO servers or stay up to date on all things Call of Duty by running through the Public Forums - visit the Machine and get involved.

Sheetz gas pumps are running dry

Well people on the east coast know what I am talking about when I say Sheetz. No, it’s not some strange southern code word for donning a white hood and robe. In fact it is a convenience store that handles more that just your basic 7-eleven style trash. They actually have a decent selection of goods with normally high quality food made to order. They even have decent pricing on most items.

Currently 25 to 30 of the Altoona, PA based Sheetz stores in the Maryland, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia areas are out of or running out of gas. That’s right, out of gas. This is not a protest over high gas prices like some people have stated. This is simply due to the fact that the Petroleum Refineries that supply the Colonial Pipeline from the Gulf Coast had temporarily shut down due to hurricane damage.

Based in Alpharetta, Ga., Colonial Pipeline delivers a daily average of 100 million gallons of gasoline, home heating oil, aviation fuel and other refined petroleum products. According to a press release located on the Colonial Pipeline website the main problem is not with the pipeline itself but rather with the refineries. Hurricane Gustav hit the Louisiana Coast on the 1st of September. During it’s run the power in the greater Louisiana area was knocked off line and subsequently the power needed to run the production from the petroleum refineries in the area was not available. Which brought a halt to petroleum production. Less than two weeks later Ike slammed into the area causing widespread power outages and knocking the refineries off line again. Until the supply issues are straitened out they will be operating the pipeline at a reduced rate. They are currently working with the suppliers and are ready to return to 100% operation once the refinery production is back on line and able to supply normal volumes again.

The Colonial Pipeline has been restarted but at a reduced rate. As a direct result we the drivers of the Southern and Mid Atlantic states can expect gas prices to climb more and more over the next few days. On Monday I put gas in my car at a rate of $3.52 a gallon. I stopped again yesterday and found the best price in my area at $3.79 a gallon. I would also assume that we will see prices at the pump rise another $0.10 to $0.15 a Gallon by the weekend.

MMS Chicks Drilling to Drill

How many of us remember the 70’s? It was a party time in every office through out America. Plenty of cocaine, pot, alcohol and sex o’ plenty. Yes it was a time when the rich frat boys of Americas elite upper 10% ruled the offices from coast to coast. It at times is surprising that 30 plus years wont change too much of business usual practices for the rich frat boy elitist life that many of our upper crust enjoy.

As our American way of life suffers due to economic hardships brought mostly to bear on the middle and working class folks of our country, some of our governing rich kid’s party on like it was still the 70’s. Congress is preparing to debate the expansion of drilling into taxpayer-owned coastal waters. During this time the Interior Department agency that collects oil and gas royalties has been caught up in a wide-ranging ethics scandal. A scandal which includes allegations of shady financial dealings. Which itself is bad enough but to add to it that agents were accepting gifts from oil and energy companies, rampant cocaine use and sexual misconduct makes this more of a frat than a department.

In three reports delivered to Congress on Wednesday, the department’s inspector general, Earl E. Devaney, found wrongdoing by a dozen current and former employees of the Department of MMS.

Agency employees, some of whom apparently were referred to as the MMS chicks, are accused of accepting bribes from and having sex with oil company executives. For those of you who don’t know, the MMS stands for Interior Department’s Minerals Management Service. I don’t know what minerals the oil company executives were drilling for with the MMS chicks but it sounds like they had to run a few test drillings.

“For the record, the MMS, (not the chicks but the department) collects about $10 billion annually and are one of the government’s largest sources of revenue other than taxes, but (the MMS) has been riddled with conflicts of interest, unprofessional behavior and a free-for-all atmosphere for much of the Bush administration’s watch,” as noted by the New York Times. This mismanagement and misappropriation of contract awards and funds has apparently been going on for years costing us, the American tax payer Billions of dollars.

I can’t wait for the movie to come out on this one. I can already see the rating “R” and the jokes that undoubtedly will come along with it! There is a potential upside to this. It may actually slow down the process of the Republican rush to drill. Though they deem it the only chance that we as Americans have towards economic and energy dependency on foreign nations. I agree in some regard however it is not the quick fix they seem to present it as. If any of you know someone or are personally involved in the oil business you know there is a lag period between the first exploratory drilling and the time at which you actually start to see pumped (sorry but you knew I was going to use that term) production from any rig is measured not in days and weeks but in years. The fastest this would actually start to have a direct effect on our budget and energy costs would be 5 to 7 years down the road. Though I am not saying this should not be looked at and should not be brought on line to raise us up in the global economic landscape, I am saying this is not the answer to our immediate economic woes.

Anybody have any additional input? I would love to hear it. Post your thoughts below.

Raising your Search Engine Position with Back Links

Raising your Search Engine Position with Back Links is one of the best ways to raise your search engine placement and increase your popularity. If your site isn't that popular yet or you recently launched it and you don't know how to make it popular, this will help you out and maybe point you in the right direction. If not you can always go and pay some guy or girl in their mom's basement a few hundred dollars and have him or her do it for you.

Of course you wouldn't know they were in "mom's basement". The main reason you wouldn't know that is perception. If they are worth there salt they would have a well built well positioned web site that would promote them as being some Fortune 500 Company. That they are willing to share all the tried and proven "secrets" that they have for SEO. First off if some one is offering SEO secrets you should be a bit on edge. There are no SEO secrets left out there. There are better ways of looking at the online game of marketing but no secrets. I don't own a Fortune 500 Company but I do very well in page placement in search engines. I gain many #1's and when I don’t get #1 or front page I rarely fall past page 2. I approach the marketing world with something that many of the real big boy's in the world do. I use common sense. Of course my father always told me, "the most common thing about common sense is that most people don't have any."

One of those "Mega Marketing Company" SEO Secrets is back linking. It's not rocket science I assure you. I tested this on several of my sites and it performs very well. I gained on average 2 Google Ranking Points after running this program as well as doubled and in some cases tripled my site traffic.

Web Directory Entries.

Basically web directories are a lists of businesses and services that people can use. There are many types of directories such as free, paid reciprocal link directories. I would recommend going for free directories first. Most of these directories require you to find the proper directory to place your site in. The more discriminating the directory site, the better the ranking you will receive. Be careful not to get locked or linked in with a link farm. Link farms are looked at like spam sites and will actually hurt your ranking by your being associated with that particular directory. If the directory has set standards that you need to meet and a review process is required before you can be accepted, there is a good chance that the directory is a respectable one.

Article Marketing.

To take advantage of this type of marketing you will need to write regular articles about your industry. You will then need to distribute the articles to directories that will allow you to put a link with in and at the bottom of your article. In addition to gaining a link from every article you post back to your site there is another advantage to this type of marketing. Many people use article directories for information. Your article will be read by people that are interested in your industry. If you did your job well and wrote a good article that was informative and compelling they will follow the link bringing traffic and possible sales to your site. There is a hook here. You have baited the hook. Now you have to set it and real it in.
