Call of Duty: World at War - Beta Release Date!

Call of Duty: World at War multi player beta's will be released in October! They will be available for the Xbox 360 and separately for download on Windows PC. That's right folks - they didn’t forget us PC Gamers on the Beta! The Beta's will be available to those who pre-buy the game. The current rumor is that pre-buy's will also get a code for instant weapon's perk update once they receive the full game.

These betas will serve as an early chance for players to practice the tactics needed for survival in the intense chaos of Call of Duty: World at War’s Pacific and European theaters. No that isn’t wrong - BOTH THEATERS!

Players will experience the game’s new squad system, as well as fan favorite perks and kill streaks. One more time folks - Squad Based Play! New PC time for me. I hear a credit card yelling for me to use it for the first time! I’m going to be shopping for a new system so I can play COD World at War!

Activision is already scrambling to patch glitches that were detected in the first round of closed Beta testing. The famed "Print Screen" lag glitch from COD 4 hung around again and I would almost guess it almost made it to this next round of Beta. That's the one that made it appear as though a player had "lagged out" however on the "Lagged" players screen everything appears normal and they can function and move with no ill effects. Rumor is that a few other "Glitches" from the COD 4 have made it along with out notice from Treyarch or Activision so far.

The new version is of course based on the Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare engine. There are new tactics and new experiences of the climate battles that gripped a generation. As U.S Marines and Russian soldiers you will have new features like cooperative game play which offers a cinematically intense experience. They will also be bringing back some weapons from the original Call of Duty and The follow up Expansion United Offensive like the flamethrower.

The full on battle will commence on November 11, 2008 when Call of Duty: World at War is released to retailers nationwide! The Allied War Machine’s public World at War server should be up and running on that same day! Until the release of World at War you can still play on the Allied War Machine's free public COD 2 and COD: UO servers or stay up to date on all things Call of Duty by running through the Public Forums - visit the Machine and get involved.
